A female patient, age 10 months old, is brought to the emergency department for vomiting and diarrhea. The child has vomited 3 times in the past 24 hours and has had 4 wet diapers and 7 dirty diapers in the past 24 hours. On exam the child is limp, vital signs are on the monitor, cap refill is 6 seconds and mucous membranes are dry. 

 

This child weighs 10 kgs.
