A 23 day old boy is brought into your clinic as the father noticed that the child has been feeding less well over the last 13 hours. He is otherwise still active and energetic at home. Diapers have been regular. The parent has not noticed any fever, cough, congestion or diarrhea. There are no sick contacts or recent travel. The baby has been doing well until now.

 

On examination T:35.4, HR:130, RR:42. The baby is interactive and alert and feeds well in your clinic. Neck feels supple. ENT exam is normal. Breath sounds are normal. Heart sounds are normal. Abdomen is soft without organomegaly. GU exam is unremarkable. Fontanelles are open, level and soft.
